30 Quotes for Disappointment

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. -Psalm 34:18

It’s not supposed to be this way. In last week’s post, https://this-coffee-life.com/2019/03/30/life-between-the-gardens/, I described the most painful disappointment of my life – the fact that Mom did not receive her healing from cancer. She prayed and meditated on scripture so much for this, and I still don’t understand why it was her time to go. I hope I get the answer to this question some day.

On her last day, we actually had a visitor from the church she had been attending claim it was because our faith was too weak and there was “too much doubt” around Mom. This hurt me and broke my heart in ways I cannot explain. I prayed so hard for Mom, y’all. I did my best to stay positive and to not speak anything negative in her presence or in general regarding her healing. I tried to confess the good things over her. I tried.

I relay this because we’ve all suffered disappointments via people, circumstances, and the outcome of situations. Anyone who tells you differently is sugarcoating. God does not promise us a life without rain, but His word shows He will carry us through the storm until rainbows appear on the horizon.

Here are some words of truth for those “it’s not supposed to be this way times.” I pray these words are helpful to you today and that you are able to move forward into the light.

And a wider perspective can be difficult for you yourself to accept, in the beginning (during the time that you squint while the sunlight stings your own eyes), but later you’ll find yourself coming back to it, even if you abandoned it as something worthless; you’ll look for it, one day. Or it will grow on you. Perspective.

Therefore, my discouragement is from Satan. As you go through the emotions that we have, hostility is not from God, bitterness, unforgiveness, all of these are attacks from Satan.

Charles Stanley

May God bless you on your journey forward.

Love,
