This is a day when my books pose a welcome distraction. This is, after all, why many of us read, correct? Anyway, I’m currently immersed in a few good stories. First we’ll address the last book I finished.
Guys, I’m on a mission to read more classics and thus, this Dystopian option. Spoiler alert: the title is a misnomer. That said, this has to be one of the oddest fictitious accounts I’ve ever attempted. Basically, everything is opposite of our society and morality is turned upside down. It is moral to be immoral. Immoral is the new moral. Or something like that. I honestly can’t tell you much about these characters except for the promiscuous Lenina, whom I contemplate with grim fascination. There is also an anguished little man named Bernard who figures prominently.
Verdict: If you need a somewhat readable train wreck of a classic, this could be worth your time. 3/5 stars
Currently reading:
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
I had to read this because Goldfinch. 11% in and I must say it is an enmeshing, old money story set in academia.
I Am Watching You
For my fellow thriller readers, here is an option. 15% in and a girl has gone missing from a train. This plot seems a recipe for success based on recent thrillers, no? I don’t think it’s made it to the point of cliche. Yet.
Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day and happy reading!!!
I’m Watching You sounds good. I’ve been loving thrillers lately after reading The Woman In The Window but I haven’t found something that hooked me like it did.
